Hello

Post by Alasdair »

I've been a keen reader of the Discussion Forum for several years and a last week took the plunge and actually "signed up". This action was really a New Year resolution which I made some time ago but took a little while to put into practice.
I've been a member of Macclesfield and East Cheshire branch for abour 30 years and BCSS Vice Chairman for the past 7.
I'm prepared to have a go at cultivation of most kinds of cacti and succulents provided they do not need a lot of heat and, preferably, are globular rather than tall and thin. I'm a keen seed raiser and my target is to get plants to flowering size rather than growing them on to large specimens. Particular interests are Mammillarias, South American cacti and South African succulents. These interests have resulted in my membership of the Mammillaria Society (Production Editor), the Chileans, the Haworthia Society and the Mesemb Study Group. I also do a bit of speaking to branches and horticultural societies so I guess I've unknowingly met quite a few Forum Members in the process and I hope to renew the acquaintance electronically.

I doubt we've met since I'm not from UK, but thankfully The Net makes world a quite small place. Pleasure to meet you Alasdair. And, of course, welcome aboard :)
