Cactus World is a title that seems to have been decided by a committee.

I would say it was an improvement over its predecessor, but that's not saying too much!

I must say I'm looking forward to the new issue of Xerophilia. It looks packed with interesting articles.

Thank you all for your interest!

Was it the almost exclusive cactus related articles (well, excepting the ant-plants article), the great front cover, or maybe both?

We couldn't include articles on "other succulents" in this issue... (we have three or four in the making, but not ready yet), we also took out some art work.

It is poorly balanced from my point of view... but what a delight for hard core cactus enthusiasts I guess.

Cheers,
Eduart

I was really impressed with the article by Leo Rodriguez - Mexican wilderness through the eyes of an artist
It just made me wish I could go to visit the habitat of some of the plants I like and take nice pictures just like them
Thank you

Yes, it is a wonderful set of images...

On the other hand things have changed over the last few years. We have now the technical support allowing us to produce and publish such wonderful pictures, with actually little effort. And people (authors & readers) prefer this visual (why not) decadence (to a certain degree).

I didn't even think five years ago when we started that we will publish such abundance of images accompanied sometimes by a very summarized text. I didn't think that we will have a pictorial (at least one!) in any of our latest 15 issues.

It is actually quite difficult to get a decent text, they send you plenty of pictures and the big struggle is to find some words to match the pictures.

On a contrast, fifty years ago all journals (well, printed journals...) offered you large written passages, maybe accompanied by two or three black and white images, just poorly visible and inexpressive. Even the photos in the habitat seemed so annoying. But I love old books and journals, they seem to come from a different world.

But this is what we have now. Is it good? Is it bad?

Maybe you give me the answer.

Cheers,
Eduart
