Has been in the barn drying out Geoff and never had problems when I made the last lot of benching like this and that went straight into the greenhouse.

HI Claire,
From a few years ago, before I made them 4 foot (1.2m) longer
And some internal from 2008 before the extension:

And internal again but 2010 after the extension:

And the latest from the build: And as the weather has turned bad the plants have been moved to the barn:

Well it's taken longer than expected but the first half is complete and all the plants moved from the remaining section of the old greenhouse to the new one:

I can see almost entirely cacti in this picture. Was there a time when you were more of a cactus grower Bill?Bill wrote:HI Claire,

Well at the time Ian it was more 50:50 and more of a general collection, I still have most of the cacti, just that the Haworthia, Gasteria and other South Africans increased in numbers while the cacti have remained static.

Re: 3 into 1 greenhouse build
Good luck with the build, keep us updated please. My little collection would just fit snugly on a corner I haven't really done much with my few plants, they are still in a very cool back house shed not a lot of sunlight but, well I am sure I can see a bud. Bring on this weekend, school hols must have a little look with them.
I have one or two plants where the main plant stem seems to have completely dried up and is just a husk, can these be brought back in to life? Can they sprout new grow in other words! If so how is the best way to do it, or just water and see what happens?

Little more progress:
Bill
Hopefully weather permitting (it's quite windy at the moment) the next 4-5 days should see it complete.Bill

Re: 3 into 1 greenhouse build
I guess the cacti stand out more because they tend to be bigger plants in bigger pots. For what it's worth my Haworthia collection has grown in the last year too though, it now stands at 3Bill wrote:Well at the time Ian it was more 50:50 and more of a general collection, I still have most of the cacti, just that the Haworthia, Gasteria and other South Africans increased in numbers while the cacti have remained static.

Nearly there now Bill, looking good.
will the middle end section stay to give you two temp. zones?
also how much glass did you break, I ask this because when I did a move a few years ago I found old horticultural glass had gone very brittle with time.
look forward to the final pictures of the grand opening
