Re: Argentinian Pyrrhocactus
This ones flowering again at the moment but did not bother to photograph it again, so here it is from last year. Think it supposed to be villicumensis rather than vertongenii though, if they are not really synonymous:-

Re: Argentinian Pyrrhocactus
I have been attempting to grow a few of these Argentinian pyrrhocacti also, with some successes.
First villicumensis and megliogli from BCSS seed a few years ago, these are the good ones

Hello Dan, just saw the pictures of your 5 month old seedling on the other forum, with what in fact is nearest to a flower bud on top .Did it develop any further?CactusFanDan wrote:Mine have come out of the bag recently, having been in for about 4-5 months. I've been introducing them to sunlight in the GH and keeping them moist. They're doing quite well. One of them even has a tiny flower bud on it.

Re: Argentinian Pyrrhocactus
It's still growing. I'll give you a before and now shot. It's growing fast! Hopefully I'll be around for when it opens, but I'm away for the next few days. Give it another week or two, I say. Also, do you know anything about this locality? The field number is PEM 504, which isn't on Ralph's database. The seeds were sold as Eriosyce sp. too, so any ID help would be nice. They looked similar to E. bulbocalyx seedlings to begin with, but now they look more like my E. villicumensis or E. vertongenii seedlings.Jens wrote:Hello Dan, just saw the pictures of your 5 month old seedling on the other forum, with what in fact is nearest to a flower bud on top .Did it develop any further?CactusFanDan wrote:Mine have come out of the bag recently, having been in for about 4-5 months. Re: Argentinian Pyrrhocactus
It seems to be sold as a form of umadeave by a Czech seed merchant.
