High Wycombe Branch Convention - October 19th

Post by Chris43 »

Our convention is already in the BCSS List of Events, but I wanted to bring it to everyone's direct attention.

We will be holding our convention on Saturday 19th October at Great Kingshill Village Hall. We have a great agenda, focused on North America.

Wolter ten Hoeve will be giving two talks on Mexican plants, each talk covering a different geographic region of this varied country. Wolter is from the Netherlands, and has travelled through Mexico on many occasions. He is a past editor of the Dutch C&S Journal Succulenta, and has a great command of both the subject, and also of our English language!

We have two other speakers who will be presenting new talks. Peter Beresford will talk on the Echinocereus of the USA, and Trevor Wray will entertain us in his inimitable way with "Favourites of the HIgh Desert".

A number of nurseries have indicated that they will be offering plant sales, including Toobees Exotics, Tony Irons, Rene Geissler, and hopefully Philip Barker (not Larkin, as I originally wrote  ) as well with his ranges of pots and planters.

All this and coffee, tea, and lunch is yours for the modest sum of £14.

Tickets are now on sale, so please contact me, either via email call me as per the flyer below.

I'm sure it was an easy slip for Chris to make - learned fellow that he is, Chris must have been reading too many poems or novels lately at bedtime!

That'll teach me to rush things! I had Keith on my mind, as he probably won't be able to be with us on that day, and noted that I need to take him out of the flyer.

Maybe I should recast my post, in verse as a punishment!

Er...no.

Hi Tina,
The two talks by Wolter ten Hoeve will have some succulent content, at least that's what I have asked him to include.
However, the main focus of his, and the other talks will be on the cacti of these North American countries. We decided to do this as a counterbalance to our last convention which was a succulent only one.

Bump!!!

Please let me know if you are thinking of coming to hear our wonderful speakers! We're trying to get some idea of numbers by mid September, so all support would be welcomed.
