Tephrocactus Study Group - Annual Meeting, Sun 11th May

Post by Tony R »

The Tephrocactus Study Group (TSG) is holding its Annual Meeting near Newark on Sunday 11th May - a great chance to see what attracts people to small Opuntias (Tephrocactus, Maihueniopsis, Cumulopuntia, Corynopuntia, Punotia, Austrocylindropuntia and more). There will be plant sales and talks from two renowned speakers: John Arnold and Tony Roberts. Tea and coffee will be provided BUT you should bring your own lunch or join us in the near-by pub! You are cordially invited to come along and help shape the TSG for the years ahead. All are welcome. We hope to see you there.

The address is: Coddington Village Hall, Main Street, Coddington, Newark, NG24 2PN. Start: 11.00h, finish: approx 16.00h.

The TSG is also pleased to announce that it now has a regularly updated website http://www.tephro.com linked to, and supported by, a Facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/609707212454078/

The website already contains many articles previously published in the 'TSG Journal' but now in digital splendour! It is intended that new articles will be posted on the website in the coming weeks and there will also be other goodies such as the newly established book index.

The Facebook group has already attracted 79 members in only 4 days and has received posts of many informative comments and excellent photographs from contributors around the globe. Current members come from the Argentina, Belgium, Bolivia, Bulgaria, Chile, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, France, Germany, Iran, Italy, Jamaica, Mali, Netherlands, Peru, Roumania, Russia, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland, UK, Ukraine, USA, and Venezuala. Take a look and see what all of the excitement is about !

The website looks good, Tony! (tu) It's nice to have the opportunity to read through articles from previous issues of the TSG journal. Hope the Annual Meeting will be a success!

I pause from messaging people around the globe about Opuntias and other cacti to update you on the current tally of TSG facebook members. The membership now stands at 317 and rising steadily.

If you like or are simply curious about small Opuntias, come along to the meeting on Sunday 11th May to see what all of the fuss is about !

See you there

Just the Havering Cactus Mart on Saturday and the TSG Meeting and Derek Castle's Auction on Sunday, so just a normal spring weekend! Hope to see some of you there - at least at the two events I'll be able to attend!
