I was given this as a cutting a couple of years ago. This is the first time it has flowered Is it Echinops Eyriesii? The flower is slightly more pink than in the photo (I may take a photo in daylight if the flower has not wilted by morning). It also has a light perfume.

Lovely flower! I've had an E. oxygona in flower for the first time this year (pure white flower anyway, no hint of pink). I was ready to pass this plant on, and it was a photo that Rod posted somewhere here that made me keep it. I am glad I did!
Your plant would benefit from a repot, though!

Here is another photo I took this morning in daylight. The perfume is stronger this morning too.

Glad I persuaded you to keep it.Christian wrote: I was ready to pass this plant on, and it was a photo that Rod posted somewhere here that made me keep it. I am glad I did!
I've never noticed any perfume from my eyriesii. I'll have to have a sniff next time it flowers (which will be soon, judging by the bud).Echinops32 wrote:Here is another photo I took this morning in daylight. The perfume is stronger this morning too.
