Topic for October is "Mexican mix - any Mexican plant". Plenty of scope for both cacti and succulents.

I was a little disappointed by the number of entries - I can't believe that very few grow any Mexican plants. The quality of plants didn't disappoint - there were plenty that I'd find greenhouse space for. Chris's Mamm bombycina nearly won it, but was just edged out by Sheila's Thelocactus bicolor. I did like the lighting effect, the clear focus on petals and anthers, and the way the spines and areoles were picked out.

So over to you, Sheila

Hi,

Thank you Mike. I too was surprised by the low number of entries to this competition, I would have expected many more.

With that in mind I've tried to pick something for this month that will be as wide-ranging as possible.

So the topic for November will be 'Good growing 2015'. Any plant that did well for you in 2015.

Best wishes,
