Very large cactus flower

Post by Peter A »

It is almost a foot across, and strongly scented. The year it has produced a dozen flowers.

Thought I'd share!
And here's a different view (note the standard-sized bricks in the background!)

Fantastic! Epiphyllum?
You can take the boy out of the greenhouse, but you can't take the greenhouse out of the boy!

Yes, from some mixed seed I bought years ago from Thompson and Morgan. From seed, some of them have taken a long time to flower, but it's been worth the wait.
This was another of them, that flowered for the first time this year (I've still got one to go...)

The outermost red petals here are so dark as almost to be black - but it's a small flower (only five inches across) and not scented.

Remarkable, huge AND scented, very pretty indeed. The seeds were a good buy, even if you did have rather a long wait.
Obsessive Crassulaceae lover, especially Aeoniums but also grow, Aloes, Agaves, Haworthias and a select number of Cacti.
