I don't really know what it is, Brian. Apparently a hybrid, but it isn't supposed to be.

It ought to be C. ricardianum. According to my database, ssp rubriflorum PVB 7224 Sonberg. It looks close enough to fool me, except for the flowers.

I think this is quite possibly progeny one from some rogue seed I produced
Brian also had some odd results from this but I don't think his were quite the same........Brian?

Re: Not your average Conophytum flowers
It kind of reminded me of mine thats why I asked. Mine shares the same flower colour which I think is quite an unusual shade, although Ian's appears more floriferous and perhaps a little more 'showy'.ChrisR wrote:Brian also had some odd results from this but I don't think his were quite the same........Brian?
Mine had the lumps and bumps on the body which was its most unusual feature.

Re: Not your average Conophytum flowers
Not one of my finest moments.......the capsule came from C.ricardianum ssp rubriflorum but is the only instance I've had reported of my usual fastidious pollinating going awry. The pollen parent must be something yellow flowered I suppose but could be bilobum, flavum or it's ssp noviceum.
One for the compost heap Ian and Brian?
If you want to I'd gladly replace it with a "proper" hybrid. One of the natural hybrids of C.ectypum ssp brownii and C.bilobum (X marnierianum) might be much more interesting to grow?
