Mammillaria Society Annual Meeting Sunday 23rd April

Its getting close now, and as a reminder, here is what we have planned for our Annual Meeting at the Hillside Centre at RHS Wisley.

10:00 Hall opens for viewing of plant displays and plant sales

11:30 Formal AGM takes place.

14:00 Two talks.

Paul Klaassen is so well known that he needs little introduction and this year he will again tell us about what he saw during his travels in Mexico this winter.

Zlatko Janeba is from Prague in the Czech Republic, a chemist by occupation, working at the Czech Academy of Sciences. He has been engaged in study and cultivation of cacti and other succulent plants for over 30 years. He has visited South America (4 times), Mexico (11 times) and Cuba (once) to study plants. He lived in the USA for 7 years and visits deserts of the SW of USA regularly since his return back to Prague. His articles have been published articles in a number of international journals, including Cactus and Succulent Journal (USA), CactusWorld (UK), Cactaceae etc. (Slovakia), The Cactus Explorer (UK) and Kaktusy (CZ). He is a member of The Cactus and Succulent Society of America (life member), British Cactus and Succulent Society, Bromeliad Society International (life member), and Society of the Czech and Slovak Growers of Cacti and Succulents. He is a member of the editorial boards of Kaktusy (ISSN 0862-4372) and The Cactus Explorer (ISSN 2048-0482).
Zlatko will talk to us about the Mammillaria plants as well as those of related genera that he has encountered during his travels in Mexico and the US.

Its even closer now, and the weather looks to be fine all day at Wisley, sunny intervals during the morning, clouding over ain the afternoon.

So enjoy the gardens and then come and see us, and stay for the talks. I'm sure there will be something of interest for you, even if its just the sales tables.
