Despite the rubbish start to the year, the hot spell has really brought everything along. I tend to miss the best of the flowering during the week because of work but here is a couple I managed to catch.
this last one I had to adjust the picture slightly to make the colour true to life, the sun was fierce and just made it look white in the photos.

Not at all, it is about 3 inches tall, but it is a fairly old plant. I have several knippelianus ssp (knippelianus, kruegeri and reyesii) and they are all distinct. Kruegeri is the small dumpy one, with paler flowers and a huge taproot.Tina wrote:

My rebutia/aylostera and sulco's put on (and still are)a great show. Just waiting for the echinopsis plants to catch up to everything else now.

Good photos of some beautiful flowers Daniel, and yes, a very good year for flowers, although keeping up with watering is hard work at present.

Re: Been a good year for flowers
all my water butts are empty and I'm into my emergency 1000L tank, my fault for having 3/4 succulent collection, agave's are paddling in it ATM.although keeping up with watering is hard work at present.
I have had most of my small puna/opuntia flower this year, previously only the odd flower.

Re: Been a good year for flowers
The cacti are okay and can make do with tap water in a pinch but my carnivorous plants I've been having to stretch out a small supply of RO water. So far okay but I'm really looking forward to some rain.
Anyway I took a couple more pictures today and i've included a shot of each of the E. knippelianus ssp to show the plant body sadly their flowers are done for the moment though. You also have to bear in mind they are in the middle of the day and outside completely exposed to full sun, so are a bit wrinkled (they puff back up in the evening).
I have this labelled as Notocactus concinnus, any better suggestions (other than parodia )
And also the slightly odd flower of euphorbia globosa The 3 Echinocereus knippelianus ssp

Re: Been a good year for flowers
Most of the flowers are getting a bit cooked in the sun during the day, but here are couple that still looked good after work today.
