I repotted my large fockea crispa a few months ago, getting ready for next years National - bad move as he has got in a right strop, dropping most of its leaves and now branches are dying back and falling off, maybe he won't make it .
This is only its second repot as it went pretty bad last time it and then it was only potted on where as this time I removed most of the soil, also doesn't like bug treatments.
Its odd as fockea edulis is as tough as old boots & lives in the garden for the summer, last time I tried fockea crispa in the garden it sulked again and never flowered that year.

So is this crispa or edulis? Always stays out for summer.

Re: Incredible SULK- Fockea crispa
That's fockea edulis- nice plant in a nice pot, crispa has more curly leaves , just a shame most of them are in the hoover , another essential piece of kit when growing succulents

Mine gets an odd trim but never a haircut, it takes it a few years to recover so I don't do it anymore.
Wonder if f.crispa also wants it warmer than f.edulis, although it's too big for my hot greenhouse its only 8ft wide so not going to change. Even the remaining leaves are an unhealthy yellow colour worried.....

This plant was so impressive to see in the flesh. I hope for all attending the National's sake that it makes a swift recovery and that it's just a bit shell-shocked.
F. Edulis seem to be nowhere near as fussy and can withstand all manner of torture!

Re: Incredible SULK- Fockea crispa
Right Mike, time to take the snips to mine, too. It's twining itself round the things nearby.
Unfortunately, with mine, it always seems to be the bit underground which grows, so each time I repot it, I lift it a bit more - so it gets longer and longer, not fatter... Maybe I should bury deeper, in a wide pot, leave it 10 years, then raise it up.
