M. schiedeana v. plumosa seedlings

Post by SimonT »

M. schiedeana v. plumosa_c.jpg
I kept these seedlings indoors over the winter - they looked too small to take a cold rest.
They ended up flowering most of the winter in the seed tray- the time taken from sowing to flowering was almost exactly 12 months.
This picture was taken today.
Hopefully I can get them to set some seed...

Beautiful

I'd enter that picture in the monthly photo competition
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

I'm sure I have read that these do better when watered over the winter.

By the way, if you have a spare one, I'm looking to replace one I lost, so would be happy to do a swap if I have anything that interest you...

Hi Ralph
I'd be happy to send a spare plant out to you.
Probably best to wait until after the worst of the cold weather has passed?

I have found them to need to be dried out in good time for winter, and that they flower unwatered. I suppose each grower and each greenhouse is different I keep mine at +5 deg. C and don't get a lot of winter sunshine.
Regards Keith.
