Some years ago I had a wireless thermometer, but it failed and I didn't bother. but I have just got this one from China (Aliexpress) Unlike the other which also had a clock and needed resetting every time you changed the batteries this one doesn't!! But it does have 2 remote sensors I've got one on a high shelf the other about 25-30cm from the ground, it does the usual MIN/MAX you can also set ALARM temps, not tried it yet, but could be useful.
not bad for a little under £13.
That looks neat and useful. Don't know much about the one I have because it was a gift.

Technically, that is a wireless thermometer, but not a WiFi thermometer - it does not connect to the network - so it might help to change your title to wireless remote thermometer to avoid confusion.
I use a home made wifi thermometer, based on an ESP32 board plus a BME280 sensor, programmed to send readings at regular intervals to a server, where they are stored. That way I can see the latest update, or draw a graph over time. You need a WiFi connection in the greenhouse to do that...
They are pretty reliable in terms of keeping connected and useful for me as the unit with the readout sits in my conservatory telling me the temperature and humidity in there and the remote sensor is in my greenhouse about 20m down the garden. Whether it will stretch to the location of my new greenhouse (when constructed) about 40m down the garden is another matter though! It also doesn't produce any graphs to look at long trends or overnight lows in any detail which I would like for my new greenhouse so I might be picking your brains Ralph about an upgrade!

Yes I know it's wireless, and not wi-fi it's just sounds a bit more modern? it's perhaps on the 433MHz band as many wireless devices are. But you can also use the 2.5GHz modules, depends what you need?

It was Ralph with the functioning controller, I did not touch any electronic components since... long time ago. But I can still solder my motorbike electric wiring, am just hoping there won't be any SMD bits to solder here
It also gives you a daily chart of the historical temperature, so you can see how many times/how long the heater has been on for and how closely the temperature is being controlled.
I set it up on a pole that is 30m from the house. It wirelessly transmits data to a receiver in my house and becomes part of my home wi-fi network. From there, via an app, it uploads the info to a cloud-based free site where it stores all the info, plots graphs, does all sorts of things, most of which I ignore. The second sensor lives in my greenhouse. So for just a little bit more - these are £110 - you get all the weather data you can eat as well as what is going on in the greenhouse together with a historical record of it. Via the bookmark of the site I can see what the weather is like at home wherever I am on my phone. I use Ecowitt as I had an issue getting Weather Underground set up - the commonest PWS site - but there are others, too.
Many years ago I bought an expensive weather station and it was really unreliable. This one has been fine, one or two periods when it went offline but I think that was how I had the receiver positioned. I actually blamed the receiver unit and got in touch with the stockists in Germany - they sent me a new unit foc even though it was outside of warranty and when that didn't work they gave me a generous voucher against the cost of a whole new station. I went cap in hand when I realised it was operator error and they were so surprised at my honesty that they said keep the voucher!
