The weather this year has been "odd" to say the least. We've had a warm winter so far. But there's the threat of snow and freezing conditions.
The question is this, what indicators or timing are you using for the start of the season?
Sainte Collette
The Ides
The Solstice
The full moon
Start of Ramadan
Start of Passover

First watering of the season?
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

I liked advice I saw online for when to spring prune roses- wait until your local Forsythia flowers!
We need something similar for C&S in an unheated or just frost-protected greenhouse...

Depends what you’re growing. My Aloes have already been watered twice as have Crassulas.
Stapeliads won’t be watered until the weather warms up and holds for a few days.
Ariocarpus mid April.
Other cacti when I see signs of growth and weather decent.

Re: First watering of the season?
I'm looking at the weather forecast.
It's meant to be cool or cold with minimal sun for the next week or more, so I won't think about even light watering the main bulk of my collection until conditions warm up. A few hardy plants - winter growing succulents - have had a spot already, most cacti in the greenhouse will wait until the 2nd half of march at the very earliest, conditional on several days of mild temps and sun.

Re: First watering of the season?
I don't tend to even think about it until the clocks change. My greenhouse is very shaded by buildings and it can still be in the shade until nearly 10am even now.
Once the clocks change I then tend to watch the weather and hope for some sunny days.
Now that everything is in pumice I am tempted to consider spraying the plants from mid March if we get some decent weather (which we often do).
Soggy soil and plants not growing is a bad idea.

Re: First watering of the season?
My Forsythias are flowering I first watered the Pediocactus in January and several other dry-summer cacti this month already. Just waiting for some decent bright weather to move on to other things.

Re: First watering of the season?
Pterocactus, pediocactus and Austrocactus were all watered this week before the forecast changed from sunny to overcast! They look to be responding though. Maihuenia had a drink earlier in the month.
