Industrial/automotive spillage absorbents I guess, but most are half to 1/3 the size of Kitty Friend (or whatever the last brand was). Would love to find a larger grade for orchids and some carnivorous plants.

Following your post because I’m wondering the same thing!

I’m to find some for a soil mix to sow some mesemb seeds, but likely won’t need a huge bag. I’ve never used any before, but I’d like to try it. Unfortunately I’m completely lost with it and over confused at this point; I’m considering checking out Wilko or one of the supermarkets atm, maybe even Lidl or Aldi? It’s hard to find the information online on what’s in the bag which is frustrating. I understand that Tescos Fine version and Sanicat Pink used to be the go to, but that now (possibly due to a price hike in Moler Clay?) they seem to be unavailable.

Please share if you find anything good
Perpetually ill succulent enthusiast. Growing succulents for 3ish years; incredibly geeky and have a newish fascination with mesembs. Can’t emphasise the geekiness enough.

Reading up on plant science somewhere in Oxfordshire (probably)

If you only want a bit I might have some spare in the GH that I am never going to use. You can have it if I can find it.

Not cheap, is it? Didn't the Tesco stuff used to be about 20l for a fiver? Or less?

Supply problems have driven the price of the raw material up. I don’t have much hope that the Sanicat product will return.

Out of interest, how is everyone using this? Does this completely replace organic material in a mix?

I've settled for potting plants in ~50:50 JI 2 (or similar) and 4-6 mm grit after messing about with more complicated mixes for a while.
Growing in Nottingham for the past 4 years and recently found my way to a Nottingham branch meeting. A few plants on a windowsill has very quickly turned into a greenhouse full!

Attempting to grow a range of turbinicarpus, coryphantha, escobaria and several other cactus genera. Tylecodons, pelargoniums and conophytums keep me occupied in the winter and an ever expanding number of gasteria live under the bench.
