More Euphorbia flowers

Post by pijaya »

Although their flowers are quite smaller and not as showy as those of other succulents, I think they are quite interesting in appearance, and sometimes only occur on rare occasions. I'm always happy to see the flowers of these especially those species that are shy to do so. If you have some photos of yours please feel free to post.

Beautiful photos, Pijaya. :D

There are such a variety of Euphorbia flowers.

Tomorrow I'll take a new one of my male obesa. He had flowered constantly all winter. One of the girls is now thinking of making two flowers, so I could have some more seeds. :)

thanks you all

Julie, I'm waiting to see your Obesa:)

Robert. The different flower color is very interesting. My friend Rikus in Netherland also have the red flower clone. My 3 plants from USA all have yellow flowers, one of them turned out to be E. erigavensis and other two I received as E. schizacantha "Ethiopian form" don't know if it has to do with the flower color.

Hi Chris
I did managed to degraft a few small E. gymnocalycioides and they do fine without any difficulty. I think a bigger plants on a graft would be more risky as the wound will be quite large, and they tend to have the base bulge out below the point of contact with the stock making it difficult to cut or break. Unless the stock is dying or can't support the scion, I wouldn't risk degrafting it and rather wait for the offsets which sometimes form on old grafted plants.

Aaah - yes - offsets - good advice, but that needs patience! We will see how long I will be able to resist. LOL

Thanks Pijaya - hope all is well.

Best regards
