Overcast but surprisingly warm and humid today. This Copiapoa from Bob must think it is back home. I had C. montana in my head for some reason but the label says C. marginata.

You can't see so well with the flowers wide open but the outer petals have distinct red tips.

Beautiful. I love the higgledypiggledyness of those stamens/stigmas.

Iann, I have 2 Copiapoa tenuissimas. One is olive green and solitary.
The other is much greener and and offsetting from almost every areole.
Which is correct?

I wouldn't normally use green and tenuissima in the same sentence. Except I just did! Its variable but not usually green. Black, brown, just maybe very very dark green, but who knows, maybe yours were grown in a cupboard, maybe they are very young. Photo as always has a much better chance of an ID. From someone else, not me, I think all Copiapoas look alike. "Alike" in the sense that two plants of different species can look more similar than two plants of the same species!

Acouple of sites if you want to identify Copiapoas:-
http://translate.google.com/translate?h ... f%26sa%3DG
And one for both Eriosyce and Copiapoas. Just scroll down and click on "English".
