This is the only Rebutia fiebrigii that germinated from my BCSS bonus packet last year, but it looks like it might flower. I just check my database and it says var spiniflora. Spiny flowers maybe?

Definitely going to flower Ian. What do you feed them on? Yours seem to grow twice as fast as mine

Re: Another one of my seedlings
I'm not familiar with this variety, but when I used to grow R fiebrigii it was usually quite late in the year when it flowered, at least for a rebutia/aylostera that is. Middle to late summer if my memory serves me well.
Especially interested in Mesembs. small Aloes and South African miniatures and bulbs.

Well, they're unquestionably buds.

John Pilbeam states in his book
"the only varietal name which is considered to be significantly different from the type is R fiebrigii var densiseta"
which has denser spination.
nice plant Iann, some of my seedlings will flower for the first time this year too

Re: Another one of my seedlings
Maybe they'll take forever and a day to develop fully? Or maybe it is just over-enthusiastic in the way only a year-old cactus can be
Its only 2cm across, Phil. I don't think I do anything special to it. It gets full sun, regular water, an occasional dilute liquid feed, and a winter in an unheated greenhouse.

from the look i'd give it 3 to 4 weeks to flower

I'll hold you to that, Hob! Do you think it will flower that quickly if I don't water it and we get the predicted frosts next week?
