Some flowers at last

Post by David_L »

I'm sure my plants are behind a lot of people who post on the forum, maybe I don't get so much sun, and maybe I keep temperatures a bit lower by ventillating more, but anyway this week has finally got things moving. First Turbinicarpus valdezianus albiflora from a slightly different angle.

Eriosyce (Neoporteria) maritima. A name that doesn't even make it into the list of synonyms in Anderson's book, so I suspect it's not valid. It looks very much like a number of other Neoporterias, but it's a reliable flowerer and very attractive.

Cracking! All these flowers are making me green - I'd say I've got another 2 or more probably 3 weeks before I get my first flower of the year.

Islaya maritima is a valid name, now obviously lumped into Eriosyce islayensis, but it doesn't look like this.

As tou say Ian it doesn't look like Eriosyce (Islaya) islayensis. I'll try to get a picture of the whole plant in the hope that someone may have a name for it. Not today though, it's really horrible here. 8C, a bitter NorthEaster and a thin rain! Still, I've got some more photos I took during the week, so I'll post those to cheer myself up.
