That Euphorbia xantii is very odd in a nice way.
The first Rebutia every year for me is this one , which came from Ralph originally, always way ahead of my various marsoneri clones. Can’t check the name at the moment though…

Thanks Simon, no I haven’t watered it deliberately but it’s probably had a few drops from the orchid in the hanging basket directly above it !

As mentioned this is a thrips (singular thrips not thrip). Although they are very resistant to insecticides there are predatory mites available which do give a degree of control. I did that 2 years ago & in the winter the mice took them all, never to be seen again. I did ask a friend re - ID and his main thought was 'cuttings' . I think No2 could loose a few especially as it is a nice looking plant but I'm in semi hibernation until it warms up again :lol: . Mice do seem...

A very difficult choice this month with some lovely snow covered pics , and I really enjoyed the lateral thinking captions from Ernie, but I’m going to choose Wolfgang’s closeup of Rhodiola as my favourite. Over to you Wolfgang for January’s topic

Interesting! That looks more like the shade of orange red of my plants, and the overall yellowish spination. Definitely not the front cover shade of red

My original plants came from Mesa Garden seed also but were most definitely orange flowered. That’s a splendid plant!
