In order to try and keep the Forum a safe place for BCSS Members and other cacti and succulent enthusiasts of all ages, everyone who registers is checked. If you are a BCSS Member and include your membership number, this is easy, because we can just look you up in the database. If you are not a BCSS Member, then we rely on the data you provide. If we can't find any traces by a brief online search, your account will be placed "on hold" until you get in touch with us by email and ask for Forum account approval.

If you registered a while back and still haven't been approved, please drop an email to forum@bcss(etc) using the same email account you put in your Forum registration, giving your name, the Forum username you selected, and a sentence about your interest in cacti and succulents.

Re: Updated seed lists

Thanks Ian. Yes I was aware of that. Simon solved the problem for me. Basically the issue was that the email associated with my membership was an ancient plusnet one that doesn't meet current standards and many email programs/apps (including Mail on Apple devices) will not allow connection to it ...

Re: Updated seed lists

Sadly not for me. Can't see the Members area no matter which device or browser I use today. I suspect this may be because I have an email address change pending in my profile, so there is some glitch when trying to log in via the new email login system and there is a mismatch in addresses? Thanks ...

It's down the list after expanding the burger menu on the top right:

Not seeing the 'members area' item on the menu at all, whether logged in or not. (Plus, having to log in by an email link now is very annoying). I will try using a different browser tomorrow.

Re: Updated seed lists

The BCSS list was (partially) updated yesterday. I say partially as there are lots of new cactus seeds but I only spotted one new “other succulent”. I wonder if there’s another update with the succulents coming in the next few days. If so, anyone who orders before that update may be upset by the nee ...

Re: dioscorea elephantipes

Fabulous plants Tina. I was very happy to pick up one of your sylvatica youngsters at the Stoneleigh event. My elephantipes looks like it is taking a year off. Still solid, but no growth. I suspect it is either sulking after I repotted it, or our feeble summer has fooled it into thinking it isn't ...

Re: Crevice planted trough

Near vertical ideally. And if you run them east-west over a mound you can have a south slope and a north slope for things that like a little shade.

ID please?

I appreciate this is a challenge, but would value opinions as to which label belongs with this plant? Only one of three different cuttings rooted but a dropped tray meant the labels were no longer in proximity. So all three labels have been with the plant ever since.

Too early to tell with eruca. But as there are several plants in the pot it should be feasible to produce seed - if I get two flowers open together....
