When you register on the Forum, your account requires to be approved by an admin before you will be able to post.
In order to try and keep the Forum a safe place for BCSS Members and other cacti and succulent enthusiasts of all ages, everyone who registers is checked. If you are a BCSS Member and include your membership number, this is easy, because we can just look you up in the database. If you are not a BCSS Member, then we rely on the data you provide. If we can't find any traces by a brief online search, your account will be placed "on hold" until you get in touch with us by email and ask for Forum account approval.

If you registered a while back and still haven't been approved, please drop an email to forum@bcss(etc) using the same email account you put in your Forum registration, giving your name, the Forum username you selected, and a sentence about your interest in cacti and succulents.

Re: EU Plant Passport Scheme

Wow, quite a few quite strong statements above. Replying to everyone at once: I am asking for a guidance on "what members (can) do between themselves on a personal, rather than public, level", and while it is indeed "their own affair and does not concern the Society", a Society, as a larger unit ...

Re: EU Plant Passport Scheme

This is a highly inflamatory subject which has already been discussed extensively on various platforms including the Forum and clear statements have been issued on behalf of the Board of Trustees, several months ago. Previous arguments resulted in threats being made and despicable statements, both ...

One way for a hacker to get into the system is to upload a malicious file to the Forum, the ...

Re: Does anyone know what might have happened to this gasteria?

Hi, my gasteria nigrans has recently developed these brown/Black blotches on the leaves, they are floppy but only on the blotches, the effected leaves have remained the same save for the blotches. There arent any visible signs of pests and it's unlikely to be scorch as it has been kept under the ...

Re: Scottish Rebutias

Well, three years on, and I'm sorry to say the 20 or so different Rebutia and Aylostera I had outside have all died. I'm afraid the winters are just too rough for them here on the Buchan plain. Allan in Orkney and Ross in the west manage it alright, but we must be just over the edge in terms of ...

Re: Field collection number query

I think TCG stands for Turbinicarpus Group (Gruppe) rather than a specific collector.

Purge of unused accounts

I am cleaning up the Forum accounts in order to reduce the vast size the database has become, with a view to looking at moving to a better system. We have a huge number of accounts which have been signed up for in the last 15 years or so and not used, and I've written to all of these by email for ...

Re: Cactus World

I am gradually making my way through removing lapsed members from the group. We are working on a solution to make it automatic. Assuming you are renewing- I'll leave you in ;) Catching up with the missed journals shouldn't be a problem as I believe there are still good stocks in the shop. Thankyou ...
