Very basic question re watering.

Once the new leaves are visible, is it time to stop watering until the moisture in the old leaves is fully absorbed (as with lithops), or do you continue watering throughout the winter and into spring?

If anyone has used this to treat nutritional deficiencies in cacti and has had success over a long period with applying this in liquid form, without any harmful accumulation of elements in the growing medium, I would love to know:- 1) The dosage rate used (ie mls of dry powder per litre of water) 2)...

Simple question - is it better to water these plants throughout the winter, or to stop after flowering and allow the new leaves to draw moisture from the old leaves?

I know that for many mesembs, fogs, especially on the Atlantic coast, are an important source of moisture, but are the fogs seasonal and (seasonal or not) how frequent are they? If anyone can answer those questions, I'd love to hear from you.
