Re: Plant Passport question

Yeah it is but why not just put the name and address there so it can be traced if there is a problem rather than making it some reference code that only DEFRA or whoever it is inspecting then knows?

Re: Plant Passport question

They certainly do seem to be turning out to be the bureaucratic nonsense a number predicted they would be! What a waste of time and money! Be much better if any plant sold simply had to have the grower's name attached in some way!

Re: Whatever it’s called has flowered

Very nice coloured flowers Mike! I thought (hoped?) I'd killed off the flat leaved form (no idea if it is a species or hybrid as it was hitchhiker in a cactus I bought) I'd got but some small ones survived and are growing rapidly.

Echeveria subsessilis 'Variegata'

Nearly lost this this winter but the top rosette seems to be pulling through and a host of small new shoots coming from near the base.

Re: Will Bellaketty get a fissure?

My (or probably my son's now as he wanted them in his room) Bellaketty started 'flipping their lids' yesterday. These are only a year old but with bigger fissures - do different plants develop fissures at different rates intrinsically or has Henry been lucky with his growing? PXL_20210411_113432404....

Re: Can anyone identify?

I think number 1 might be an Echinopsis too with a healthy dose of 'Lobivia' in it.

It is a lovely one Jay. Mine is much smaller than yours at the moment.

That's a cracking flower. I'm now repeatedly telling myself I do not need to grow it...

Re: Space between greenhouses

Just wide enough for two benches and an aisle and then you could stick a piece of polycarb between the two for extra growing space?

Seriously, I have about 18" between mine and a hedge and it's very tight but I can move in there and clean and replace glass ok. 2ft should be a bit more comfortable.

Re: Echinofossulocactus for id

Completely agree with both David and Ralph. Too many keys, especially in books intended for a hobbiest audience seem to pick 30 common species or forms and try and sort them out with as few steps as possible rather than being a technically accurate key that will sort the full range of features withi...
