This sounds interesting... Presumably if it kills root mealys and their eggs it will also kill any other type of mealys (which in my experience like to gather just under the edges of plants)? And all without damaging the plants if in the correct dilution?

Interesting - thank you Stuart. I take it from what you say the problem is the UK winter weather/ the cold then? I've only just started looking, mildly curious, and so far all I've seen have been grafted and abroad... Nothing at all on its own roots.

So, realistically, is there any point in starting a search for a reasonably mature one of these on its own roots to buy? Or am I more likely to find some teeth for the hen first? Just wondering...

I need to know the answer to that question because mine has developed similarly but not quite to the same extent. Is it building two more ribs? Forgive me saying it el48tel but I'm glad its not just me then! Does the "rib spreading" go all the way around your plant, like it does on mine? It's hard ...

Plus one here. A couple of weeks ago mine was looking absolutely fine. Then one day one of the segments started to go brown low down. Two days later, the two adjacent segments went the same way, and after a week those three segments were brown to the top. I inspected the plant just before consigning...
