I find all types of basilaris stay small or low in cultivation, tending to send up a new pad from the base each year rather than putting one on top of another ?
Hence the name I think, no?

Re: My collection in Finland

MatDz , the flowers of S. pteranthus and S. grandiflorus look exactly the same. The only difference is that the flower of S. grandiflorus has extremely strong scent, whereas the flower of S. pteranthus has no fragrance at all. However, according to my own experience, the plants themselves have slig...

Re: My collection in Finland

I tried really hard, but cannot see any difference between this and photographs from p. 12 - what are the distinguishing factors here? Edit: anyway, what amazing flowers they have! Edit edit: I feel relieved, from Llifle : "Note. There is disagreement about the validity and identification of th...

Re: Flowers for Succulentophiles

A lovely surprise in my "community pot" of epiphytic cacti after almost 2 weeks away. This one came from Ralph I believe, but I lost labels from this pot long time ago. More flowers on their way! That cerise coloured Rhipsalidopsis x was a hybrid created by my father. It has no name. That...
