I bought this plant at a local supermarket a few months back in the hopes it may be Aloe aristata and therefore survive the winter in my unheated greenhouse. Now that it flowering can anyone confirm that hope. I am more interested in whether it would be frost hardy than getting the corect name. Rega...

Re: Why do plant bodies split?

What a wonderful flower.
The plant looks really nice too.
Such a shame they won't survive the winter in my unheated greenhouse.

Re: Aloe polyphylla germination

I used a petri dish and some kitchen towel to soak my A. Polyphilla seeds as instructed above and all 11 have germinated. They were from this years BCSS seed list. Re: Some Lasiacantha species from different locations

I completely agree fatich.
I'm sure I used to have some in my unheated greenhouse.
I've just checked and I must have lost them sometime, I will try and replace them.
Thank you for reminding me about these little gems.

Re: ID ideas, please

#1 looks very young to me and could change dramatically as it grows, my guess would be a Gymnocalycium or possibly even a Melocactus.
I agree that #2 is Notocactus buiningii (as I still think of it).

Both nice young plants.

Re: Duvalia elegans v. namaquanum

Now that is seriously weird, it's not for me but I can see how others may think differently.

Read this as 'The Blues Brothers' were lazily flying about my slightly warmer section of the greenhouse. Think I got up too early today.
