Re: In your opinion, which are the 3 worst pests in succulents?
For number 3 intersperse your plants with a Drosera or 2. They make a big difference. I'm not sure D. can actually eradicate them, but certainly control the numbers nicely and are rather rather fascinating plants, as are all other carnivorous ones really. Last time I had carnivorous plants, they go...

Euphorbia obesa?
Hi all,
I can’t remember that this euphorbia had a name tag, but it grows offsets, unlike my obesas. Is it a hybrid?
Thanks
James

Re: In your opinion, which are the 3 worst pests in succulents?
My top three pests are (in order): 1) Mealy bug - I just can't seem to get rid of them. I've tried pesticides with limited success, and have tried washing/repotting affected plants & roots (see below for enemy number two) but they always come back. I now just try to pick them off when I see them...

Re: Astrophytum asterias babies
I think the parents are so hybridised that you rarely get the same as the parent just a mix of all/some of the gene pool. I once labelled all mine, kept seed pods separate with ID but they didn't grow true to parents but you do get some nice surprises, I have a nice odd ribbed bits one ( sorry can'...

Re: Astrophytum asterias babies
I just love these cacti! I first started growing them from seed 2.5 years ago. Just got a flower from one of them this year. Was also lucky to get a variegated one (I know they aren’t everyone’s cup of tea!). Got my seeds from rarepalmseeds. Some nice plants and a good variety, one day you'll get t...

Re: ID cacti help needed
Thanks for those speedy replies - much appreciated. First one was a £3 supermarket purchase, the second (which I thought might have been a Gymnocalycium) was £5 nursery. I’m always surprised at how affordable cacti are, even the local Poundland sells them!

ID cacti help needed
Hello all,
Wondering if anyone would be kind enough to help identifying these two cacti. I find that I struggle to identify some cacti as they look so similar to each other!
Providing a couple of pics per plant - one with flower, one without.
Thanks
James

Re: Hi from Kent
Just a question, do you teach the children about plants if they are in your class and you grow them? I am the forest school lead so am always on about plants and nature! Inside, I work across all year groups so don’t have my own indoor classroom, however, I took dozens of cuttings last spring to fi...
