Re: Baby Lithops
Thanks for posting these pics Allan; there’s something seriously cute about baby Lithops! What kind of soil mix did you go with? Did you keep them covered for humidity at all, or just in open air from the start? I’ve grown some from seed, doing just about all the wrong things, but trying a second ti...

Re: Systemic Pesticides that don’t effect Farina
I’m trying to guard against bringing in any pests from my outdoor collection into my indoor one; so both I believe. They’re due a watering very soon so I hope it would be taken up through the whole plant with any luck. I have some lights I could use to ensure the plants are photosynthesising and met...

Re: Systemic Pesticides that don’t effect Farina
Thanks Alan; I might have to do that too this year and I may experiment with doing a root drench with Rose Clear Ultra on a few of my duplicates to see if it’s possible for the future.
Have you any special tips for using the Bug Clear Ultra Vine Weevil Killer?

Re: outdoor raised bed
I have a tiny one outdoors which was an experiment from 2022; it’s lasted quite well so far but this second winter we shall see what happens! I also have had quite a number outdoor in pots and scattered around my garden. My biggest tips would be: - Go with a high proportion of inorganic drainage sub...

Systemic Pesticides that don’t effect Farina
Hello folks! This year I had a big chunk of my collection outside where they flourished. I’m in the process of moving them back indoors now but I’m very concerned about bringing in pests that may affect my other indoor plants (or spread more quickly indoors without any predators to keep them at bay!...

Re: Cat litter
Following your post because I’m wondering the same thing! I’m to find some for a soil mix to sow some mesemb seeds, but likely won’t need a huge bag. I’ve never used any before, but I’d like to try it. Unfortunately I’m completely lost with it and over confused at this point; I’m considering checki...

Re: Matucana Madisoniorum about to flower; self sterile or can I pollinate? Any care advice/experience/tips?
I bought this plant especially for the pot; was looking for a cacti that was “bulbasaur-y” (because I am, unashamedly, an adult child), not too spiney and quite small (at least for now) because it’s such a lovely pot! Unfortunately it’s just awfully small; I don’t know that even my smallest pots wou...

Re: Matucana Madisoniorum about to flower; self sterile or can I pollinate? Any care advice/experience/tips?
Thanks for the speedy responses el48tel and esp; much appreciated! Sad to hear it’s likely self sterile as I’d love to try growing more, this plant is so beautiful. I think I may be a fan of the plants with low-no spines (at the moment anyway). I’ve never read anything about using cement dust - how ...

Matucana Madisoniorum about to flower; self sterile or can I pollinate? Any care advice/experience/tips?
I have this beautiful little plant bought from Tony Irons just a few months ago and I’m extremely new with cacti but I believe I’ve noticed a bud start to form (yay!). I couldn’t find much information online as to whether it’s a self sterile or fertile species; do any of you kind people know? If it’...
