Re: x Mangave ‘Bloodspot’ going to flower

Hi Colin, so I am hoping to see if there is anything I can do to encourage offsets and or bulbils. My last flowering bloodspot produced 2 offsets, and i know lots of others that have. But I have also seen photos of plants in the US that produced bulbils, so it is obviously capable of it. I suspect t...

Re: x Mangave ‘Bloodspot’ going to flower

I have 3 bloodspots at different stages of flowering at the moment. These are all from different sources, and as i only had enough agave pollen to cross the first plant, I thought it would be fun to try a little experiment. I have collected pollen from the first plant, using it to pollinate the seco...

Re: Planted Mangave Silver Fox flowering

Other people have said that theirs flowered the same way, so it seems quite normal for the variety.

It's a shame that they are just not that little bit tougher, but they would be fine in your garden, if you were willing to put a cloch over them.

I thought people may be interested to see that many mangave Silver Fox that I have grown planted in one of the rockeries is flowering. It has been planted for 3 years now, and gets a simple cloch put over it in winter. It is by no means the best for the UK, I had a spare so thought I would try it. B...

Re: While we wait for Diane's mangave to flower...

Hello everyone, it's been a while since i was last here. So as Paul mentioned I do indeed have one or two mangaves and manfredas, this week I finally managed to break the 50 varieties mark. I have been collecting them for around 15 years, started with manfredas which were easier to find, then got th...

Re: Mangaves anyone?

Anybody know which one this might be? Mangrove cv Messy? :) It flowered a couple of years ago and since then has sprouted severely! Not sure what to do with it now. You can split them quite easily. Come spring if you wanted you could take it out of pot sparate all the plants, or some of them and po...

Re: Sale of large agave collection

The cycad is amazing isn't it. There were a lot of very jealous people when he rescued it who are now asking if it is for sale as well  I believe he used a digger to plant it and then build that section of the greenhouse around it.

Re: Sale of large agave collection

I have dropped geoff an email, but not sure he is around, not heard back. He was at the Worcester Cactus Society auction last night. Did you mention this to him by any chance? I'll PM him again just in case I'll also dig out a couple of photos of some of Pauls collection and the planted area in his...
