Re: Lobivia haagii

Phil, thanks for pointing this out. The plants in front might just be Aylostera pygmaea, but i presumed they were offsets on the bigger one behind. To me, the flower looks more like an Echinopsis flower in terms of the number / arangement / tapering shape of petals. Most A. pygmaea forms that come w...

Re: First time in Flower

Ralph, which sp. is this? I've got O. pseudofossulatus as tall as I am and I'm ever hopeful that it'll flower one day  It's growth rate has been relatively much faster than your Dad's plant. It's labelled as O. fossulatus. However, my dad grew several Oreocereus spp. from seed. I know its not...

Re: Lobivia haagii

Nice flower, but its not Rebutia pygmaea. What does that have to do with it, you might ask? Well, Rausch (mistakenly) considered Mediolobivias to be Lobivias at one time, so this name would be referable to Mediolobivia haagei, which is a name for a pale pink form of Aylostera pygmaea. While your flo...

First time in Flower

My father originally grew this Oreocerus from seed, over 50 years ago, and it has flowered for the first time! It's about 1m tall.

Re: First Pterocactus of the year

hi Ian,

many of mine suffered last winter, but I hope to have a few spares soon, and will let you know.

All the best

Re: Schlumbergera lutea ssp. bradeyi (typo corrected in title)

I had mine for 2 or 3 years before it really started growing much, but then got a lot faster. I guess it needs to develop a good root system first.

Re: And some more variation ;)

This is my LF1153 - looking just as I would expect for A. oculata. Purple stamens, petals red towards tips with more orange-yellow base, long spined.

Re: File size

For those of you worried about having to learn a new piece of software, you could try this https://imageresizer.com/ where you upload an image by drag and drop, set a target size, and it will resize it and overwrite the original (by default). Easy-Peasy. (I tried it once and it seemed OK, but I woul...
