Re: Echinopsis falling over

Yea, perhaps two cuts.

One an inch from the bottom. The offsets will soon cover the stump.
And another just where it begins to widen.

The mid section could be used to gather more offsets in time.

I also think it might need more light and perhaps less nitrogen in the feed.

Re: Old seeds

I sowed my own fresh Echinocereus seed this year but was very disappointed with the results so I read up a bit on them. Found this in a fairly new book. Sometimes it seems that older seed germinates better, so it is a good idea to sow left over seed portions too. The best results are obtained by sow...

Re: Echinopsis ID

Thanks, It was definitely a seedling, it was very small. I was looking through all those this morning and the best I could come up with was 'Lincoln Beam'. But the ends of the petals aren't dark enough. I don't know if that would be a consistent feature with an Chamaelobivia hybrid. Untitled picture...

Re: Echinopsis ID

A second one here that's probably not a plain silvestrii.

Referring to my other thread:

This plant is also not looking very happy compared to how it looked when I got it first.

Echinopsis ID

As you can see from the label I had an Echinocereus fitchii for a number of years. Despite growing and flowering well it was never stable in it's pot and finally rotted a few summers ago. When I was throwing it out I found this seedling growing at the base of the plant, so I kept the seedling and la...

Re: Rebutia flavistyla problem

Said I'd just add to this thread as my problems continue on most of my Rebutias. Common signs are the browning and the missing ring of spines. But the latest manifestation is this weird growth on some heads, new or old. I've re-potted most of them this spring but it's like something has gotten into ...
