Fantastic, I don't grow this Mammillaria, but it looks absolutely worth it!
It's not an easy cactus to grow. Especially that well.
I had one on it's own roots for years. It grew slowly if at all, never flowered and then I lost it.

Re: Echinocereus Flowers

I wonder would anybody be able to identify this one for me.
I guess it was grown from seed in 1999 but this is the first time it has flowered.
Label was lost but I do have some possible names from the seed list to cross check if somebody can guess.

Echinocereus triglochidiatus
Close... but hover the cursor over the picture, and you'll see 'coccineus'. That's assuming Ian has the correct name
It looks good to me.
Hard enough to flower, so that's a result.

Re: How hot do cacti get?

I think it's fairly well accepted around the world that black clothing keeps you cooler. Whether that applier to cactus pots is a different matter I suppose.

Do Rebutia flavistyla like a high calcium and alkaline environment?
No
Is calcium basically the same as limestone as far as cacti are concerned?

Re: Rebutia flavistyla problem

It's most likely I added this to the potting mix of gerneral JI2 and grit at 50/50.
All comments welcome, thanks!

Hi Everyone

Saw this on the wrong shelf at the garden centre so just had to buy it

I think it might be an Oreocereus celsianus?

Anyone else got any ideas?
There was a similar one on Facebook recently which had no roots. So check for the usual bugs.

Re: Rebutia flavistyla problem

Just an update on this problem I'm having. I've since lost all bar one of the plants in the above photos. They just shrivelled up and died over the winter. The Lobivia jajoiana seedlings in this thread have all died also. https://forum.bcss.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=170282&p=296837#p296837 So last ...

Re: Watwrproof/heavy duty labels

I buy the cheapo ribbons for my P-touch which runs WiFi to my laptop. I’ve not had any significant problems with them. I do have problems with the Brother tapes, essentially being that they are anything but cheapo..... Which p-touch is it? I think I'll finally treat myself with one this year! P-tou...
