Re: Another Maihueniopsis

See https://web.archive.org/web/20160604000914/http://www.tephrowelt.de/bestand/Maihueniopsis.htm I do still have Chris's 1995 list where it's just listed as "Maihueniopsis mandragora CJH147 50p" and there's only one other CJH plant, Aust. verschaffeltii, CJH35. It is a bit puzzling as he ...

Re: Hose feeder

I water my plants using a hose from a water butt with a fairly feeble in-line pump. It delivers what you might call a fast dribble but not enough power to work a spray feeder, I shouldn't think. Up until this year, I had to do feeds using a can. This year, I'm experimenting - I'm putting what I know...

Re: Tonight’s the night

And a not very good photo of mine, Lau 441. P5130006 copy.jpg Britton and Rose claimed that the flower doesn't smell. However, the human sense of smell isn't always reliable and sometimes flowers don't release their scent as soon as they open nor does the scent always last until they fade. I wouldn'...

Re: when plants get hungry

It's green and growing, so not lacking nutrients. I'd say there was no particular cause just how your plant grows.

Re: Cintia knizei wakens up today

The name Rebutia cintia (there's already a Rebutia knizei) was published in 2003 and Weingartia cintia in 2008. It is fairly similar to R. neumanniana.

Re: All things come to those who wait…..

Has anyone an informed knowledge of where seed comes from, in the main? Presumably habitat? Yes, habitat. I've had 4 lots: BB 774.01 (Espina, Puno, Peru, 4495m, 10Jul2000), TSG, sown 2012 HR 727 (9,2km se of Macusani, Peru, 4539m), KKHK, sown 2017 HNSO 178 (habitat seed), Succseed, sown 2018 CS 460...

Re: Next winter considerations

I was looking at a decent temperature data logger I have an Elitech RC-5 which seems OK but it tends to get left in the greenhouse and forgotten about for months. I was thinking of upgrading to something that I can monitor (but also that logs) from the house so I too would be interested in suggesti...
