Re: Illegal plants

As I mentioned earlier, if Mexico has never issued permits for Echinocactus Grusonii then how is anyone to know which plants can be legally grown. John E certainly didn't deserve the bucketload of **** poured on him for sharing a photo of a pretty plant on this site. Maybe we should all stop growing...

Re: Illegal plants

Not sure what the penalty is for showing a picture of a pretty plant in flower but gonad chewing does seem a little severe, looks like I might have to quickly delete some photos on my 'What's New' talk in case anyone in the audience has sharp teeth.

Re: Illegal plants

Most of the plants we grow have been artificially propagated from plants that, a few generations down the line, have been collected or their seed has been collected from habitat. I can't see the relevance of the 1997 date, Mexico has never issued a permit to export Echinocactus Grusonii but we all g...

Re: National Show Pictures

Just a thought but, Liz, if you've taken photos of all the classes that are as good as the ones you've shown here, maybe a CD/DVD of The National could still be possible?? A slideshow on Youtube could also be a possibility?

The 'chap in the yellow t-shirt' is Rudy from Czech Republic - one of the best - don't miss him at ELK, worth going just for his plants and enthusiasm.

Re: Did you enjoy the national show

First thoughts - quite remarkable as to what can be done by basically a bunch of amateurs! As far as I know it was all done without any professional help so quite an amazing achievement. Having the whole event in one large venue can't be easy any I expect the venue on a cost factor was the best we c...

Re: Who is going to the National Show?

I'll be there as usual, judging, selling, buying a bit, quietly just getting on with things, just have to decide on a shirt for the Saturday. Not a good weather forecast but should be a good weekend. hoping for a record attendance and looking forward to seeing everyone.

Re: Harrow Branch Meeting Changes and Show Sat 6th Aug 2016

Excellent show, over 140 paying visitors covered the cost of the hall, advance publicity plus good signs on the day clearly worked, all visitors given branch details when they came in plus the voting slip to choose their favourite plant, good way to involve visitors in the show, more branches should...
