It's normal growth for the older leaves in a rosette to die back as they're replaced by fresh leaves in the centre, or normal for the whole rosette to die if it has flowered.

Re: My New Greenhouse is Finally Ready
On a brighter note, some of the largest Dutch nurseries use the bench flooding technique for many years and I've not noticed any problems. I tried it years ago with Two Wests staging but even with extra bracing, there were still dry corners Ralph's staging looks much stronger than Two Wests and more...

Re: Ferocactus fruit
I have crosses between Ferocactus and Stenocactus, Leuchtenbergia, Echinocactus and Thelocactus in the collection so there's quite a few possible combinations. They could all be easily combined as one genus!!

Re: Aloe pillansii - again
Strange that there should have been any CITES interest, it's only being moved from Sussex to Kew!! After seeing the Aloe and the size of the base the other week, I'm amazed anyone managed to move it. I hope it's being looked after in its new home.

Re: Payment for Talks Solved
When I've given talks in the US, the standard fee seems to be $200 plus motel fees etc but I wouldn't expect anything in the UK, wouldn't want anything other than the full cost of petrol. UK meetings seem to be run on a tiny budget with coffee, cakes & biscuits at my nearest branch only being 50...

Re: Haworthia question
