I photographed this same display in the rain back at the start of August. It is difficult to be sure, but I think the 'gap' was turned against the wall then?

Re: Pelargonium curviandrum
You'll find P. appendiculatum takes a lot of water when it is growing. I think it will be happier in a plastic pot unless you can keep it moist.

Re: The Lullingstone Open Show at Cactus at the Castle.
I regret to announce that the Mesemb show planned by the MSG will not be taking place due to illness. Needless to say, there will still be many other attractions at Lullingstone Castle on Sat. 16th Sept. including the Cactus Mart with ~25 cactus and succulent nurseries, tours of the World Garden led...

Re: T torulosus
Tylecodon torulosus is only recorded from one location in the Richtersveld, but a friend told me he found another. Tylecodons will flower well each year but have to be above a certain size depending upon the species e.g. T. paniculatus probably has to be over a foot (30+ cm.). Since inflorescences ...

Re: Advice please
Personally, I would always prefer to cut rather than tear offset away. But your offsets are too small at present to root on their own. I would repot and grow the plant larger for now.

The branches appear thin and malleable. They are flopping for lack of support - which would be a nurse bush in nature. You could consider providing a frame and slowly (over many months) bending the branches into the desired shape. They may eventually become self-supporting after secondary thickening...

Re: Things I learned today
*** Brilliant tip ***I now decant all my dried fertilisers into airtight tupperware containers when I open them.
Why didn't I think of that! I'll do the same in future.

Re: Tylecodon names
Natural variation, Stuart. This species has a substantial range and varies somewhat across that distance. I noticed the first Tylecodon flowers for this year were open today on this species. Some clones are pinkish, others white. Some are a bit self-fertile and I get volunteer seedlings. What is dis...
