Re: Good plants for mixed display?

Hi, You have some nice plants and a nice setting. I expect quite a few will develope into quality specimen plants. There are some larger growing cacti which can form imposing specimens and would be impossible to slip into a handbag or rucksack. Unfortunately you would probably need to grow them to s...

Re: Some larger plants

Thanks Ed.

I can’t say for sure how old they are, at my best guess the plants above are somewhere between 27 and 31 years old. I grew seed when I was in my early twenties, and not again until my late 40’s. They could be grown quicker with more consistent care.

Re: New winter cover

Nice plant Ed.

I grew one from seed many years ago, but lost the roots several times, it’s now a very small plant at the moment after having rooted down again late last year, but it should probably be the size of yours! I havent feed it enough by a long way.

Some larger plants

Thought I would post some photos of some larger plants.

I grew these from seed many years ago. I grew a lot more at the time, but these are three of the few plants I have left from my original collection.

I entered all three of them in the 2020 virtual national show.

Re: Erioscyce/echinocactus pretreatment

Eriosyce aurata germinated fine for me in 2019, several seedlings have grown quite well.

Usual seed germination techniques worked.

Re: Zoom tonight

Personally, I think all the talks discussed previously were interesting, and even with the connection issues of the mesemb talk, I enjoyed them, learnt a lot and found them to be a worthwhile use of time. The mesemb talk even gave me ideas on staging, as well as lots of info on winter growing. Norbe...

Re: Setiechinopsis mirabilis in flower

Hello KarlIR,

Nice plant you have there. It’s one of my favourites as well, used to have one when I was a teenager, and have three seedlings currently, two of which flowered in 2020.

Can I ask, how do you produce your labels, what label printer do you use?

Thanks.
