Re: Echinopsis 'Bridge' hybrid
I met Mike Bridges a couple of times at BCSS National Conventions and he was a great guy - a true Mancunian complete with that fabulous Mancunian sense of humour! And he had some very nice plants for sale there too! The question in your last sentence sounds worth following up - how about contacting ...

Re: Rms, preventative
Hi Eric I'm using this https://www.kaizenbonsai.com/natural-spider-mite-control-for-bonsai-1 It's not cheap but neither would be the cost of replacing damaged plants. There is a concentrate available too. I've used it since clearing RSM off a badly scarred Lophophora which is recovering nicely. SB P...

Re: Cactus soil
The coir needs to be buffered because ordinary coir will absorb calcium and magnesium so that they are not available to the plants. I have taken to mixing some buffered coir with moler so that the resulting mix doesn't dry out as rapidly as pure moler. Creating your own mix means you have control ov...

Re: Confusion and contradiction.
Dave You are mistaken in believing that "originally "The Yorkshire Cactus Society" was intended to just be for that family". The late John Cox's book on the history of the BCSS records that in 1945, Michael Roan (one of the four founding members) is minuted as saying at a meeting...

H. Gaulton will be the late Harold Gaulton of (I think) Manchester Branch. Suggest you contact them.
Thanks again for your rescue work Ernie.

I think the RM will be Robert Maijer of the Netherlands. Roy got material from him - I bought Echeveria secunda RM 131 and Trdescantia wrightii RM 158 from Roy.
Many thanks for your rescue work Ernie.

Re: Whitestone catalogue late 80's early 90's
Hi Ernie I bought mine from Roy at the Cactus Explorers weekend in September 2014. He was still selling plants at £2 each then, apart from a few larger ones. So I think that was the price I paid. It's a very nice thing with pure yellow flowers - a good contrast to the red/pink/white of the more usua...

Re: Cussonia
Have you seen the SANBI webpage on it Ian? It says Cussonia enjoys ample water, full sun (or semi shade especially when young). I found another site that says that Cussonia takes ample feeding. I got one (in October) from the same source as you. I’ve got it indoors and am keeping it watered and fed....
