Re: A few to ID if possible
"Plants 'created' in cultivation, usually by crossing two plants together to make a hybrid are given non-Latin names, of which "Hobbit" is one." Not totaly true, yes cultivar names are given to hybrids, but more commonly specialy bred varieties of which there are far more. Going ...

Re: A few to ID if possible
Hi Andrew First one is a cultivar of Crassula ovata The main two are Hobbit with curved leaves and Gollum where the leaf ends look like suckers. Often when named the two are mislabeled and to confuse matters even more there are intermediate forms, the result of crossing the two. C.argentea is a syno...

Re: Another door closes
Well to be sarcastic what a surprise, if Europe can make a mess of things it will. Rules upon rules upon rules, that's all they exist for.
Meant to say what's cacti etc?

Re: greenhouses
That sort of thing is very tempting Nick, bit too far away thank goodness. I have often looked at the very big/commercial greenhouse that come up on Ebay and go for next too nothing and thought if only, space isn't a problem it's the logistics of dismantling, collecting and the cost of a suitable ba...

Re: Flowering and a water question
Well we have a pond in our garden and a stream running through the farm and the pond has had to be filled several times as that is drying out and as for the stream, you couldn't even wet your toes in it. But back to tap water if it's good enough for Roy and Bob et al, it's good enough for me, save p...

Re: greenhouses
I'll back what bob says, I started of with an 8x6 and it was all path and very little shelving, my "first" 8x12 seemed much bigger than 2' wider. Mind you I added a 2nd one within 4 mths and a couple mths after that joined them together sideways to give a 18 x12, now 10 months later I am l...
