I don't normally use a camera phone for photographs, preferring a didital camera, and I find that underexposing a shot by one third or two thirds of a stop - sometimes even a whole stop - emphasises contrast and colour in flower photos.

I think the caption is putting off potential entries. Shouldn't it read March 2023 rather than February? My experience has been the same as Aiko. After initially panicking, I discovered that moss doesn't kill seedlings, as long as it doesn't get too thick. The main killer is damping-off.

I grew this Trichocereus spachianus from seed sown in 1975 and it grew steadily to about 12 inches tall until 2009 when I must have overwatered it and it rotted. I cut off the top 4 inches or so and managed to re-root it. In 2013 it flowered - the only time it has donw so. It has grown slowly for me...

I love it. I have several gasterias and find them the most undemanding of succulents. They don't need the sun.
