Re: Echinopsis Southfields hybrid Razzle Dazzle

I’ve had my Razzle Dazzle a few years now and it currently resides in my outside cold hardy bed. Here it is now enjoying its second year outside. Quite hardy it seems. Yes, it looks pretty healthy. Do you feed it? Hi Ralph, I don’t feed it no, not since it’s been outside anyway. It occasionally got...

Re: Echinopsis Southfields hybrid Razzle Dazzle

Thanks, It never used to disappoint each year with flowers when it was in the greenhouse so I was hoping I hadn’t upset it by putting it outside. So far so good but will keep a close eye on it as it’s a great hybrid and would be a shame to lose it.

Re: Pediocactus simpsonii in the garden.

Well, I'm not too far down the coast from you, and it's certainly windy here! Perhaps I should give it a go. As you say, being near the coast helps with frosts, but we lost a few plants last December which had survived outdoors for several years before that. Sorry to hear that Ralph. A few casualti...

Re: Pediocactus simpsonii in the garden.

Well done. It looks quite sheltered in your garden. Do you think that helps? Thanks Ralph, It is a little sheltered in a south west corner of the garden and we’re right next to the coast which helps a little with hard frosts although not much shelter from the wind! P. simpsonii likes quite a lot of...

Re: Pediocactus simpsonii in the garden.

Mine are all finished, so maybe a month behind greenhouse conditions even on the balmy Wirral? Yes would seem so! All mine in the greenhouse are too small to flower yet but will be interesting to see the difference in the coming years. Most of my outside Opuntia’s that regularly flower are just com...

Re: Pediocactus simpsonii in the garden.

Hasn’t that done well! Thanks! It’s done better than I thought but I know these are the most winter wet tolerant Cacti and prefer cooler summers so I did have high hopes for it  I’m growing a lot of P. simpsonii from seed to experiment and add to the collection but they’re only thumb size at ...

Pediocactus simpsonii in the garden.

Hello again  Hope everyone’s well. It’s been a while since I’ve posted in the forums but I thought I’d post a few images of my Pediocactus Simpsonii in flower today outside in NW England. Second year in the cold hardy bed for this specimen and seems to have acclimatised well amongst the other ...

Re: Mammillaria luethyi

BEAUTIFUL, not one I can keep. I hope you got your paint brush out Thanks Tina, I did get he paintbrush out  but I did the same last year and could only find a couple of seeds so hoping for better luck this year. I’ve heard a lot of these are from the same clone so maybe that’s the problem. R...
