Aporocactus flagelliformis cultivation
Also known of course as Disocactus flagelliformis. Although I get lots of hits when I search here there is very little about cultivation and care. I read elsewhere of using potting mixes of the usual 50/50 to 5:1 loam grit mix, with or without the addition of moss and or leaf mould. I don't currentl...

Re: Greenhouse Heating
There was a good article in the journal a few years ago on the thermal efficiency of greenhouses and heat retention. I can't remember exactly which journal it was in, but if you're interested I'll find out for you. That and electric heating seems to be the best solution. I'd be very interested in r...

Re: Which seeds did you order this year?
My first batch of seed, from Piltz , contains mostly different forms of Lobivia Jojoiana and Mediolobivia pygmaea. I sowed 25 packets about two weeks ago and have good germination already in 19 pots. My seeds are sown under LED lights in a heated, humid, propagator. I’m waiting for the Mam soc seed...

Re: Sowing seed in autumn and winter
You could leave them as long as you want but this increases the chance of them rotting and they would be unlikely to flower. Normally introduce the dry/wet winter/summer cycle after 1-2 years. At the end of the day, like most of the rest of us, space will determine when you introduce them to their f...

Best to post up a picture if you can at all. White markings on the inside of the pots always tells a tale.

Yes, I agree, it would of course.daydreamer wrote: ↑Wed Oct 21, 2020 6:33 pm Wouldn't it be a far less risky strategy to just land on the greenhouse roof and drop in through a vent? I can't see a RSM surviving in a water butt, especially if you draw the water from the bottom tap.

Re: Watering...or. rather water.
Personally I don't think it will make much difference. Tap water that's left stand out overnight will change to ambient temperature which some say is better for our plants. Chlorine will dissipate in it over time reducing PH (which some say is good) but you'd have to do some of your own tests as any...

Re: Watering...or. rather water.
Generally it's the same water. Cool water from your hot tap may have a different acidity, you'd have to test it. Again generally the kitchen tap is a rising main, so fresher water, whereas the water in your bathroom is coming from a storage tank so may be more stagnant and not as fresh. The only way...
