Re: Colouration of spines?

Hi Maurice Most tall growing cacti flower after having reached a considerable height. This varies depending on species but will usually take a number of years. The more low growing and rounded cacti usually flower much sooner (although there are always exceptions!). Growing cacti sometimes needs pat...

Hello Maurice You can use this as an avatar (a graphical image that you use to represent you). If you go into your profile there are instructions on uploading it. I see you've already got an avatar of a cactus so you must have done this already. You will have to save it first on to your hard drive. ...

I remember them. My mother used to use upturned flower pots stuffed with paper to protect her chrysanthemum flowers. Haven't had problems with earwigs for ages. Regards to all at N'ton & MK group.

Earwigs

Does anyone have problems with earwigs? I have caught several of the little blighters over the past few weeks hiding under flower pots (occupied by cacti) and have killed them as I've come across them. Yesterday I noticed that one of the flowers on a Chamaelobivia hybrid had been nibbled. When I wat...

Re: A few recent flowers

Beautiful blooms. I love the longimamma. My camptotricha blooms always seem to get entangled in the spines and don't seem to open as much as yours. Maybe they don't like Welsh weather as much as North London!

Re: Problems with the Name game again

Hi Maurice

For M. tezontle try M. crinita
For M. louisag try M. louisae or M. hutchisoniana ssp louisae.

Why does the cactus world have to be so topsy turvy? Why is the world round?

Best wishes

Rod

Visited Wyevale Hereford but they don't seem to stock it. Called at Hereford Garden Centre (Country Gardens - same owners as Wyevale). They stock it but are out of stock. Grrrrr.
