That's really interesting, but the watercolours were the part that attracted my interest and awe the most as well. I would not mind seeing more of these in the publications going forward (tu)

I am not Colin, but will question the spelling of F. comaru. I got mine from a very reputable source few years ago with F. camura.

I had somaliensis for some years but in one of my periodical collection reductions I moved it on to a good home and hemmingii won out. Aloe somaliensis

Inspired by Mike's post on Aloe hemmingii, made me think about Aloe somaliensis. It is one of my favourites, very common in cultivation and easy to care for. Few pictures of different patterns of the markings on the leaf. The last picture of var marmorata.

I'l give your technique a go myself then, as I already have a plant. Another piece of advice from the late Terry Smale - to gently brush the flowering branches with each other. Pollen is so tiny that it is airborne. It works well with my C. umbella flowers, which are probably smaller than of the species you are hoping to cross.

I have just repotted mine and could not help myself to post some pics. Interestingly, it seems to only now be forming a flower stalk. Definitely the latest of my plants.
