Dreaded mammillaria ID

The most unwelcome of cactus ID tasks, the miscellaneous mammillaria. This one a gift from a coworker they found at a car boot sale. Widely spaced tubercles and hooked centrals. Tubercle spacing has remained after a year growing under proper conditions. Suggestions appreciated. IMG_20180807_16293152...

Re: Updated seed lists

Thanks for this info Terry. Well well, doesn't it feel great to be free of the bureaucratic burden of buying of buying seeds as an eu member

Since it's a requirement at our end, I guess we'll have to wait until next year to see how/whether the eu sellers pick up on it. What a pain.

Re: Peat sales ban recommended

Arguing the pros/cons of horticultural peat is too much like work - I work professionally in peatland restoration and have worked on horticulturally/fuel extracted peat and agriculturally damaged sites. Suffice to say that having spent a long time around peatland monitoring (generally GHG fluxes/ an...

Re: When and why do you open bags in baggie method?

A bit of a bump for advice on the above from seasoned lithops pros - how would moving seedlings to a heated propagator in the greenhouse in a couple of weeks time work? With just very occasional watering until it warms up properly. Help appreciated :)

Thanks

Re: When and why do you open bags in baggie method?

Thanks Ian, I thought that might be the way to go, I'll open them a little and start drying them out. Thinking about it - I'd really like to free up some more space under my lights as I've ordered too many seeds (again) - do you reckon the lithops seedlings would fare ok in the greenhouse/polytunnel...

Re: When and why do you open bags in baggie method?

I would be interested to hear thoughts on lithops in baggies - I have about 700 lithops seedlings of 35 odd species in bags sown in November that are already rather large - I'm a seasoned cacti baggy method grower, but have rarely done lithops before. I'd leave the cacti until april/may - but imagin...

Thanks Aiko, if you don't mind sending it on when you receive it that would be much appreciated.

Re: Updated seed lists

Hi Phil,

I emailed him this morning and he promptly replied saying he no longer sells seeds. Mind you, I've never actually ordered from him before, just oogled his list. Have any previous customers received a list?

Re: Updated seed lists

I suspect many of you are already aware, but a note that Ludwig Bercht has stopped selling seeds and has taken his website offline. A shame, he had a cracking list.
