Cyrill uses the species name soehrensii for all the plants in this genus http://tephroweb.ch/tu/tukulturpflanzen.htm soehrensii being the type of the genus. With so many names based on vague and/or incomplete descriptions without a type or location information or a photo thre's something to be said ...

That's disappointing: there is no validly published name for this in Puna.

You'll come across this under the name Cumulopuntia rossiana more often than pentlandii.

Can you not just use a mains-powered fan? Or use a transformer to power your PC fans? Solar seems a bit complicated and expensive.

Those Lincoln Giant betray an E. haematantha parentage, I think - some forms have similar spines.

A spindly one of mine [15px04]. I kept a pair of seedlings and both have produced these sorts of flowers so far this year (not sure about previous years).
