Re: A few to ID if possible

Re: A few to ID if possible
I'd go for the monstrose form of Austrocylindropuntia subulata

Re: A few to ID if possible
Agree about it being the hobbit, but you'll find it in older books as C. argentea monstrosa or C. portulacea monstrosa. I don't think it's related to C. arborescens.

Re: good home wanted Solved
I'd been looking at it on t'internet and was intrigued to see it lives where almost nothing else will in almost barren Chilean desert, inhospitable even by cactus standards.

Re: Semps Solved
I know that people selling Sempervivums have to make a living but I'm always surprised that even though they're so easy to propagate they typically command prices of ?1.50. There are plenty of people selling seed-raised cacti for this sort of money which must represent a much greater investment. htt...

Re: Another door closes
I think you get a refund. They only seem to have realised there was a problem as they started to get orders ready for sending.

Re: Copiapoa leonensis?
I, for my part, wasn't doubting the integrity of the vendor, more the durability of the new name. I've been doing my homework and found the diary of the cactus hunting trip and, specifically, the entry for the collection in question http://www.copiapoa.info/copiapoathon/20030609.htm . Based on the c...

Re: Another door closes
It's kind of difficult because it was said on a mailing list. You can interrogate the database of old posts via this page: http://www.labs.agilent.com/bot/cactus_home . Strangely, the Huntington website hasn't been updated to say this: http://www.huntington.org/BotanicalDiv/ISI2006/catalogorder.html

Re: Copiapoa leonensis?
Ralph Martin's field number database http://ralph.cs.cf.ac.uk/Cacti/fieldno.html confirms it is C. humilis. Cactus & Co website doesn't have any details of No2 journal for this year, yet.
